OneSubsea and Vallourec have secured contracts for Azule Energy's Greater PAJ project offshore Angola, which aims to exploit five deepwater finds through 17 subsea wells connected to a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel (FPSO) with a nominal capacity of 95,000 barrels per day of oil. OneSubsea, a joint venture between SLB, Aker Solutions, and Subsea7, will provide umbilicals, while France-based Vallourec will supply rigid pipes. These awards follow earlier contract wins for CIMC Raffles (FPSO), Saipem (transport and installation), TechnipFMC (risers and flexible flowlines), and Baker Hughes (subsea production systems).

According to Angola's upstream regulatory agency, ANPG, six contracts, including those with OneSubsea and Vallourec, were signed at a final investment decision (FID) ceremony in Luanda on 23 June. The project is expected to generate 1.8 million hours of local jobs, involving large-scale manufacturing of over 6,500 tonnes of structures, foundation piles, and risers. Local work also includes onshore/offshore assembly and support activities, along with training and mobilisation of a national workforce for over 600 jobs.

Total reserves for the development are estimated at 252 million barrels. Approximately 143 million barrels are held in the Palas, Astraea, and Juno discoveries in Block 31, with 108 million barrels in the Urano and Dione finds in Block 31/21. These will be exploited via 10 production wells (six in Block 31) and seven water injectors (four in Block 31), with first oil expected in the first half of 2029.

At the FID ceremony, ANPG chairman Paulino Jeronimo stated that Greater PAJ "reinforces our country’s position as an attractive destination for international investment, promoting stability, economic growth and revenue generation for national development." Azule chief executive Joe Murphy added that the project "reflects the value of collaboration and the ability to unlock resources through integrated and efficient development solutions."
